About Connie Velin

I was lucky to grow up in a household that valued beauty, nature and creativity.  I have been an artist of one form or another my entire life.  In my earliest adult life, I was a writer/photographer for a hospital.  Then I enjoyed a career in dance as a teacher, choreographer, performer, and administrator before turning to sculpture.  Now I concentrate on painting.  As you can see from my pages, I love to experiment with styles! I also love commissions!

Artist Statement

Often color is the impetus for my painting, but quickly my background in dance and sculpture come into play.  I love exploring movement, mass, void, rhythm, line and form.  The excitement that color lends these elements is like sprinkles on a doughnut.  My abstract compositions are often guided by my background in choreography, recalling pattern, repetition, shape, line and energy.
